Organizations

Grace Baptist supports and is directly involved in several ministries.  These include the following:

Inter-Faith Housing Aliance
Since 1983 the Inter-Faith Housing Alliance has served as a leading provider of support to homeless families of Central Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  Services include:

  • Short-term emergency shelter in participating churches, where families may stay for up to 90 days.
  • Long-term transition housing, where qualifying families may stay for up to two years (Hope Gardens).
  • Families are provided with skills needed to overcome homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency.

Mattie N. Dixon Ambler Community Cupboard               
Serving the community by being a facilitator of  ‘Neighbors Helping neighbors’ in need without regard to race, religion, creed or national origin by:

  • Coordinating and facilitating the collection and distribution of food, clothing, furniture, and household items for people in need.
  • Connecting people in need with programs and agencies.
  • Developing and advocating programs which strengthen families in stress.

Center for Culture, Art, Training and Education (CCATE)
A non-profit organization whose goal is to help empower the Hispanic community in the greater Montgomery County area in Pennsylvania.  The vision is to assist the Latino community in the following ways:

  • Promoting self-esteem through cultural identity
  • Developing the artistic talents of the Latino youth
  • Assist workers and small businesses by providing training in job skills and better business management
  • Provide support to students to excel in their schools
  • Assist first generation Hispanics to become proficient in English

Eastern University
Eastern University is a Christian university dedicated to the preparation of undergraduate, theological and graduate students for thoughtful and productive lives of Christian faith, leadership and service. The mission is confirmed and celebrated when graduates believe their way into knowledgeable action that influences their world in substantive ways.  The University is dedicated to excellence in scholarship and teaching; to the whole gospel for the whole world through whole persons; to justice, reconciliation, and transformation; to responsible leadership and stewardship; and to Christian community.  Some of Grace Baptist’s members are, or have been, on the faculty, staff or student body at Eastern. 

Palmer Theological Seminary 
Palmer Theological Seminary offers professional degrees and certificate programs to prepare persons for professional and lay ministry.  The majority of students are enrolled in the Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree program, which prepares persons to enter into some form of ordained ministry, including pastoral ministry.  The Master of Theological Studies (MTS) is for students interested in theological studies with a variety of goals in mind, including, but not limited to, preparation for careers in social work, parachurch ministry, Christian publishing, public policy, or pursuing a PhD program.  The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Leadership of Missional Church Renewal prepares students to become leaders in the transformation of individuals, churches, communities, and the world.  The motto of the Seminary is “The Whole Gospel for the Whole World through Whole Persons.”  Several Grace Baptist members and former members have been Palmer Seminary faculty, graduates, students, or staff, and the church has had pastoral interns from the Seminary.

Philadelphia Brotherhood Rescue Mission   
The Philadelphia Brotherhood Rescue Mission has been helping the homeless and rebuilding lives since 1908. Dr. Russell Conwell of Temple University was one of the founding fathers of the Philadelphia Brotherhood Rescue Mission; formally known as the Temple Brotherhood Psycho-Therapeutic Institute. As Pastor of the Baptist Temple, Dr. Conwell saw the need to help men who were migrating to the Philadelphia area who were in need of food and shelter.

Race Track Chaplaincy of America 
RTCA-PA seeks to bring the Word of God and God’s love to the people of the horse racing industry at Philadelphia Park Race Track in order to bring people to God.  The Chaplain, American Baptist ordained minister Rev. Rick Bunker,  ministers to persons on the backstretch, including hot walkers, grooms, exercise riders, pony riders, jockeys, trainers, horse owners, and others, and to persons on the frontside, including management, racing personnel, office and service workers, and others.  Besides making barn and track pastoral calls, offering a listening ear and helping hand, he also leads the weekly AA/NA drug and alcohol meetings, conducts weekly chapel services, organizes special events, distributes clothing and other items to the workers, visits those in the hospital, conducts funerals and weddings, sits on the sports program committee and the dormitory representative council, provides regular counseling, and serves as a liaison for health care and education for the track personnel.  GBCBB members include a current and former Board members and officers.
