An Advent Question

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.  Janet, Frankie, Wendell, Henry, and I were blessed to spend last weekend visiting family in Ohio.  We (my family, my sister and her children, and my brother and his wife) surprised my parents with a visit home.  We celebrated an early Thanksgiving together.  Then we were blessed to celebrate Thanksgiving this past Thursday with Janet’s Mom at our home.  As I reflect on this past week, I feel very grateful for the people in my life.

Our relationships make up so much of our lives.  Yet, I know it can be easy to allow important tasks, deadlines, or mindless activities to encroach upon those relationships.  As we enter this Advent and Christmas season I invite you to think about important relationships in your life.  What are you doing to nurture those relationships?  How are you nurturing your relationship with God?  What are you doing to grow your relationship with your partner?  How are you shaping the children in your life in their faith development?

During this Advent we are going to explore Christmas through the eyes of Jesus’ earthly father, Joseph.  As I’ve prepared to lead the small group study on Sunday morning, I’ve appreciated the emphasis it places on relationships.  I invite you to join in the small group study this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in person or on zoom as we seek to grow in our relationship with God, one another, and those children whom God has entrusted to our care.

See you on Sunday,

Pastor David
