From The Pastor: April 3 2014

April 3, 2014

Dear Friends,

This Sunday is the fifth Sunday in Lent and I’ll be continuing my message series on “The Healing Power of Christ.”  This Sunday we’ll focus on the story of “The Healing of Simon’s Mother-in-Law” found in Mark 1:29-34.  What would it take to make you happy?  We’ll consider that question together as we gather at the Lord’s Table and share communion.

The Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held this Sunday evening at 5:30 P.M.  This annual event raises money for the youth group’s summer mission trip.  The 2014 trip is to Monroe, NC, July 12-19.  Come and enjoy a delicious meal and see the full highlights video from last year’s mission trip to Newfane, NY.  All are welcome to attend!

Grace Baptist will sponsors its second Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, 10:00-11:00 A.M. on the church grounds.  Rain or shine!  All children pre-school-5th grade are welcome.  Bring your own Easter basket for your goodies!  Invite your friends and neighbors to share the fun with you.

Next Sunday, April 13, is Palm Sunday.  We’ll be celebrating the ordinance of Believer’s Baptism and our Sanctuary Choir will present the Holy Week musical, “I Am the Lord of the Dance.”

Next Sunday there will also be a special adult Sunday School class.  Instead of Wired Word, Doug Hargis will lead a discussion about the recently released movie, “Noah”.  Whether you have or have not seen the movie (and it’s not too late!), join the Explorer’s Class in the Board Room to consider the movie’s positives and negatives, truths and misconceptions.  All are welcome!

This Sunday is the last day to order a lily or azalea to be placed in the sanctuary for Easter.  Please use the insert in this Sunday’s bulletin to place your order.

See you Sunday,

Pastor George
