From the Pastor – Salvation Comes….

Dear friends and members of Grace Baptist,

I hope this pondering finds you well as we approach the July 4th Holiday.

This Sunday we are going to continue our journey with the OT Prophet Elisha.  Our scripture comes from II Kings 5:1-14.  The passage is a story about a man from Syria named Naaman.  He is a commander in the army, highly regarded by his master, and a valiant solider, but he also had leprosy.  His affliction with leprosy, led him to being separated from his people.  In order to participate fully in the life of his community, Naaman needs to be delivered from his leprosy.  Where will his deliverance come from?  Where will he find his salvation?

Well, the rest of the story tells us from where and through whom his deliverance and salvation comes.  I invite you to read the passage sometime before Sunday.  Observe who plays a role in Naaman’s deliverance from leprosy.  Note their social status.  Note who Naaman’s master sends him to and what Naaman brings with him?  Observe Naaman’s response to the Prophet Elisha’s instructions?  Observe who changes his mind?  Where and through whom does Naaman’s deliverance and salvation come?

Lastly, think about your own life.  When you are in need, like Naaman, where do you look for healing, for restoration, for salvation?
