Last year was a year of incredible nastiness, with many people who identify with Christianity spewing bitterness and name-calling against people with differing views. This Holy Week let’s be reminded of this verse, and remember those who chose instead to lift up others, be positive, and encouraging–the people who stood on their balconies and clapped at healthcare workers coming to and from work. I’m reminded of the book “Balcony People,” which describes that there are balcony people and basement people. Basement people are constantly criticizing, judging, pulling people down; whereas balcony people lift up, encourage, and spur on others. Be a balcony person!
