From the Pastor: April 9 2014

April 9, 2014

Dear Friends,

This Sunday is going to be a very special day here at Grace!  First, our Sanctuary Choir will be presenting a musical for Holy Week entitled, “I Am the Lord of the Dance.”  This very special presentation will be a great blessing to everyone as we continue our spiritual preparations for Easter.  Also, this Sunday, we will be observing the ordinance of Believer’s Baptism.  Four candidates will follow Christ in the waters of baptism and it should be a very meaningful moment in their lives and for all of us here at Grace.  You won’t want to miss it!

Thank you to Kristen and the Youth Group for another wonderful Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser last Sunday.  Proceeds from this event will help to support the youth group’s summer mission trip to Monroe, NC, July 12-19.  Thank you also to Haruko Arango for the wonderful video presentation.

Grace Baptist will sponsors its second Community Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 12, 10:00-11:00 A.M. on the church grounds.  Rain or shine!  All children pre-school-5th grade are welcome.  Bring your own Easter basket for your goodies!  Invite your friends and neighbors to share the fun with you.

Next Sunday there will also be a special adult Sunday School class.  Instead of Wired Word, Doug Hargis will lead a discussion about the recently released movie, “Noah”.  Whether you have or have not seen the movie (and it’s not too late!), join the Explorer’s Class in the Board Room to consider the movie’s positives and negatives, truths and misconceptions.  All are welcome!

I hope you’ll plan to attend our annual Maundy Thursday Communion service on April 17 at 7:30 P.M.  This very meaningful time of worship will be proceeded by a Soup Supper at 6:30.  Please email me (ghawthorne23@gbcbb.org) or call me at (215-629-6293) if you would like to attend the supper.  Trish is away so please don’t leave her a message.

Please keep Gwen and Ed Tressider in your prayers.  Gwen had double kneed replacement surgery on April 8.  She is doing well and should be home by this weekend.

See you Sunday,

Pastor George
