From the Pastor – August 31, 2017

Dear Friends,

As I write this Grace Baptist Update entry, our new church sign is being installed!  It looks great and I’m so grateful to everyone who has made it possible.  Soon all the cables and wiring will be attached and we will be able to access the sign and change the message from our office computer.  More importantly, we will be able to better communicate with our community and let people know what’s going on here at Grace.

This Sunday we will have our final 10:00 A.M. worship service.   We will return to our regular Sunday morning schedule on September 10(Rally Day).  This week I’ll be sharing a communion message entitled, “Wonderful Sacrifice” based on 2 Samuel 24:18-25.

Response to Hurricane Harvey:  American Baptists are urged to lift up those affected in both Texas and Louisiana by Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm that made landfall Friday on the Texas coast. Bringing 130 mph winds and an unprecedented amount of torrential rainfall in some areas, the hurricane has resulted in flooding, power outages, downed trees and signs, major property damage, displaced residents, injuries and fatalities.  Our congregation can give to disaster relief through the One Great Hour of Sharing.  One hundred percent of donations go to relief efforts; no dollars are retained for administrative costs.  All donations will be sent through One Great Hour of Sharing to help those affected by this storm.

Faith In Action sign-up time is coming soon.  Check out tomorrow’s bulletin for a listing of service opportunities.  Sign-ups will begin on September 10.

The next Pastor’s Welcome Class will be held on Sunday, September 17th at 9:45 A.M. in my office.  This class is offered to anyone who is interested in church membership or who is new to Grace and would like to learn more about our church.

Please continue to keep Gabriel Ortiz in your prayers as he recovers at home from his recent clavicle surgery and bone graft.  He’ll be undergoing extensive physical therapy and rehab in the days to come so let us offer our support to him and his family.

In His Service,

Pastor George
