Dear Friends,

Last Sunday was Faith in Action Day!  It was another very successful and meaningful day of ministry as we cancelled church and reached out to the community to serve.  Thank you to all who participated and especially to Betty Helpa, our primary organizer and leader.

This Sunday is Faith in Action Celebration Sunday and we’ll be gathering to remember and to give thanks for all that was accomplished through FIA.  A special video of the various service projects is being prepared by Kristin Paluszka and we’ll be hearing from two participants, Nate Fitzgerald and Melissa Flack.  In addition, I’ll be sharing a brief message and a song, “No Church is an Island.”  A reception will follow the service in our church lobby.  Whether or not you were able to participate in one of our projects this year, I hope you’ll join the celebration this Sunday.  It’s going to be a great service!

We lost two devoted members of our church recently and I would ask your prayers for their families.  First, Gil Heebner died on Saturday, September 23 of cancer in the Rydal Park Medical Center.  A service of remembrance will be held in his honor on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Rydal Park.  Gil was 90 years of age.  Second, Connie Fowler passed away on Monday, October 2 after suffering a recent fall.  A funeral service will be held for him this Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Normandy Farms where he lived.  Connie was 95 years old.
