When We Don’t Know God

Dear Friends,

We want to extend our sympathy to Ken Green and the entire Green family in the loss of Ken’s mother, Susanna Heinrich Green.  She was 97 years old and would have been 98 next month.  A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. this Thursday, March 14, in the Chapel of the Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6500 Tabor Road, Philadelphia where friends will be received from 1:30 until the time of the service.  I invite your prayers for this family during this challenging week.

Join us this Sunday for worship as we continue our Lenten journey toward Easter.  I will be continuing my series, “At the Crossroads” with a message entitled “When We Don’t’ Know God” based on Philippians 3:4-14.  What is the difference between being religious and knowing God?  That’s one of the important questions we’ll grapple with this Sunday.  Special music will be provided by The New Life Trio, featuring Barbara Green, Carolyn Paullin and Sue Jenkins.  We hope you’ll worship with us!

Please sign up this Sunday for our annual Maundy Thursday Sacrificial Supper.  This simple meal of soup and bread will begin at 6:30 P.M. followed by a communion service in the sanctuary at 7:30 P.M.  A sign- up sheet can be found in the narthex.  You can also call the church office to let us know if you plan to attend.

It’s time to order Easter flowers!  Please use the special insert in the bulletin this Sunday to order a lily or azalea to be placed in the sanctuary for Easter.

A Community Easter Egg Hunt is planned for Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 A.M. rain or shine, for toddlers through age 10.  There will be egg hunts for three age groups along with games and face painting.  Please sign up in the narthex if you will provide filled plastic eggs for the event.

Please note that my email address has been changed to:  ghawthorne23@gbcbb.org.

See you in church!
Pastor George
